Gay E. Moore, Founder

Born and raised in Northglenn, a cozy suburb of Denver, I am a true Colorado native through and through. Having lived in various corners of our stunning state, one constant companion in my journey has been my love for houseplants.

In Colorado, our homes often battle the harsh, dry climate, a challenge I’m all too familiar with. With over 60 years of nurturing plants, I’ve certainly had my fair share of floral casualties. Yet, each loss is a lesson that has taught me how to encourage our green friends to flourish beautifully.

I firmly believe in the power of houseplants to enhance our well-being. They not only purify the air but also bring beauty into our lives and lift our spirits. Allow me to guide you in creating a thriving green space of your own!

Frequently Asked Questions

First check to see if it’s only one or two leaves, usually older leaves at the base of the plant. Houseplants will self-trim older leaves at times just like any plant. If all the leaves have either brown tips or brown crispy edges, it’s likely that you’re over-watering or under-watering. With houseplants, we tend to overwater. Check the soil. Is it soggy and wet? If so, let it dry out a bit. Trim off the brown parts with a clean pair of scissors or trimming shears. Be sure to wipe your blades with an alcohol pad between plants in case your issue may be a bug infestation. Still not sure what’s causing your plant to turn brown? Fill out my form and we can discuss further what might be going on.

Over-watering is a common problem and will cause your plant to wilt. Soil should be moist but not soggy. The roots of your houseplant need oxygen and if the soil is waterlogged they can rot. Check to see if the drainage is adequate, and don’t let your plant stand in a big puddle of water. Always put your houseplant in a pot that has at least one drainage hole and is large enough to accommodate the plant’s roots without crowding. Are there roots growing out of the bottom hole? If so, that plant needs a bigger pot, and it is not absorbing a lot of water since it has outgrown the space it is in.  I can help troubleshoot these problems and help you find solutions.

Let’s face it, bugs love houseplants as much as we do! Do you have yellowing leaves, webby material in the leaf joints, sticky spots or flying insects around your plants? Isolate the plant or plants that exhibit these infestations as the pests can move to new homes in the rest of your plants. Then contact me and describe your type of bug and we’ll work on eliminating the pests and hopefully bringing your babies back to health.
